VARs Master Public Safety Apps
Brace yourself for a shameless plug: The VAR Guy spent most of today prepping for MuniWireless 2007: New England, a conference focused on best practices for public broadband deployments. Several sessions at the June event will feature VARs and integrators. And for good reason: Solutions providers like Scientel Wireless and Outsource Inc. are building out broadband networks for scores of cities and counties across North America.
Nelson Santos, director of technology at Scientel, tells The VAR Guy that his company has at least a dozen city broadband projects under its belt. Completed public safety deployments include Providence, R.I.; Cocoa Beach, Fla.; Buffalo, Minn.; Southaven, Miss. and Timber Lake, S.D. Other in-process projects include Plano, Texas; Kissimmee, Fla; Kilgore, Texas and Tulsa, Ok.
During an email exchange, Santos confirmed to The VAR Guy that he will be at the MuniWireless conference describing video, voice-over-WiFi and other applications that police and fire fighters can use to improve public safety.
