V.i. Labs Launches SaaS Intelligence For Developers

Software intelligence solutions vendor V.i. Laboratories has launched CodeArmor Software Intelligence Online, a SaaS offering designed to give small- and medium-sized ISVs increased visibility into how their products are being used — or misused. Here’s how.

The VAR Guy has reported previously on V.i. Labs and their approach to helping small software developers curb piracy, and this new offering extends that philosophy into the cloud. The basic idea is that by adding CodeArmor into your product, you get instant visibility into software feature usage, beta adoption, trial download adoptions, and the crux of their offering – piracy detection and reporting.

It’s V.i. Labs’ stance that piracy detection can generate sales leads like nothing else – enterprises very rarely want to risk the legal woes that can come with being caught pirating software, and they say that CTOs are willing to pay any price to get legitimate as quickly as possible.

With this cloud move, V.i. Labs looks to affordably put that kind of protection, and that kind of opportunity, in the hands of those who need it most and can afford it least – small developers with limited infrastructure to leverage. It’s an intriguing approach, and we’ll be keeping an eye on them.
