Trend Micro: Simple Brand, Simple Software?
The VAR Guy likes simple messages that cut right to the point. So when Trend Micro launched its new “Worry-Free” security software brand, he was intrigued. What exactly is Worry-Free, and what does it mean to solutions providers? Here are some thoughts from our resident blogger.
First, some background. In some cases, desktop and endpoint security software have become far too complex and burdensome. While security products can protect PCs and laptops, in some cases that protective code introduces new headaches, consumes memory and zaps a computer’s performance. That’s why some folks are making the leap to Mac OS X and Linux.
Still, 90 percent of the world continues to run Windows. And they want peace of mind — without a big performance hit. That’s where Trend Micro hopes to help, with Worry-Free. The solutions offer “safer, smarter, simpler security so you can focus on your business,” the company claims.
Worry-Free involves a range of products, but Worry Free Remote Manager is the one that will likely catch your attention. It allows solutions providers to manage customer systems from a single remote console.
Hint, hint: It’s safe to assume that Trend Micro will add more and more remote management capabilities to the Worry Free brand, meaning that there’s an emerging opportunity here for managed service providers.
