Think Outside the Box: Add Push-to-Talk over Cellular to Your Revenue Stream

Why would a reseller of business communications solutions want to sell push-to-talk over cellular (PoC) radios?

By Hytera

So why would a reseller of business communications solutions want to sell Push-to-Talk Over Cellular (PoC) Radios?

The answer is simple. PoC radios provide secure, instant, and nationwide workforce communications; and users of PoC radios are the companies and organizations that are already buying your business communications solutions.

A traditional two-way radio dealer had to be well versed in radio technology, and know how to build and configure base stations, repeaters, and antennae systems. PoC uses existing 4G LTE networks and Hytera hosts the cloud network gateways, so there is no infrastructure equipment, no maintenance, no support, and no radio technician staff required.

The concept of Push to Talk over cellular was introduced by Nextel in 1987 as an alternative to two-way radios. Nextel revolutionized business communication when it started to pass small voice packets from radios across their cellular network.  Nextel was acquired by Sprint, who decommissioned the Nextel iDEN network because it could not support modern LTE data and video bandwidth requirements. At its peak, Nextel had over twenty million subscribers in the United States.

Today, PoC provides the best of both narrowband two-way radios and broadband LTE networks.  PoC radios support the advanced features of modern digital radios, including data services, instant group calling, and GPS location tracking.  PoC combines the national coverage area of 4G/LTE and the bandwidth required for modern data and video.

PoC Market Growth

According to Persistence Market Research, the PoC market will grow at a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 9.7% from 2019 to 2029; with the market value increasing from $3.2 billion to $10 billion over the next 10 years.

Who uses PoC Radios?

Almost every business sector uses two-way PoC radios. Hospitals, schools, retail stores, manufacturing, energy companies, food services, and construction. One of the fastest growing PoC sectors is the service industry. These are customers with small to medium sized service fleets who don’t have the capital to invest in the infrastructure required for wide-area radio networks.

  • Electricians, Plumbers and Exterminators
  • Property Management Companies
  • Construction and Building Materials
  • Bus and transportation companies
  • Security Guard Companies

Why not use Cell Phones?

Employees can use cell phones or radios for internal company business communication.  The key difference is Push-to-Talk instant individual or group calls.  No apps to launch, no screen locks, just press the button.

There are also several drawbacks to using cell phones:

  • Cell phones services are more expensive than radios
  • Cell phones enable employees to waste time with social media, games, and calling non-employees
  • Cell phones do not support advanced radio features like noise suppression for talking in loud environments, Man Down notification, and remote shut off.

Why Sell Hytera HALO PoC Radios and Services?

  • PoC users are already part of your customer base.
  • Hytera offers high margins for dealers, and the dealer owns the customer relationship. That means the dealer gets all the monthly billing revenue – month after month, year after year. Other manufacturers provide a small, one-time payout for bringing in a new customer, and then keep all the long-term billing profits.
  • Hytera HALO is easy to sell because Hytera offers the lowest cost PoC service, the most advanced PoC network, the highest quality radios, and most powerful and easy-to-use dispatching application available.

Hytera gives you the best of both worlds – low prices for your customers, and excellent margins for you.

Who is Hytera?

Hytera is the fastest growing radio communications company in the world, and the leader in two-way radio innovation. Hytera is an R&D driven company that is consistently first to market with new features, capabilities and technologies.

Hytera is a billion-dollar, global company with 10 international R&D Innovation Centers, three Industry 4.0 manufacturing centers, and more than 90 regional offices around the world.
