StorServer Guarantees Data Recovery with Backup Appliances

It’s one thing to sell men’s suits with a customer satisfaction guarantee (think clothing seller Men’s Wearhouse), it’s quite different—and a bit more risky—to attach a data recovery pledge to mid-market backup appliances. Yet that’s just what data protection specialist StorServer has done, ensuring customers they’ll get their data back should they incur a loss and, moreover, the data will be usable once it’s recovered.

StorServer is offering the guarantee on its Backup Appliance models 601 and 701, Enterprise Backup Appliance models 802, 1202, 2202 and 3202 and with any of three levels of diagnostic support–8×5 Silver, 24×7 Gold and 24×7 Platinum. Products purchased after Feb. 1 are eligible for the data recovery guarantee.

StorServer, which offers a portfolio of appliances, software and services built on IBM (NYSE: IBM) Tivoli Storage Manager, sells exclusively through a network of channel partners. The company also is offering customers trying out its backup appliances a risk-free, no-strings-attached, 30-day money-back guarantee if not satisfied.

And, for those skeptics in the audience, StorServer points out its enterprise appliance models 3100, 2100, 1100 and 800 nabbed four out of five top positions in the DCIG 2012 Backup Appliance Buyer’s Guide.
