SAP Analytics Solutions Offer Insight into Big Data

Enterprise application software specialist SAP (NYSE: SAP) announced business intelligence (BI) solutions, including Feature Pack 3 for the 4.0 release of the company’s BusinessObjects BI solutions (including SAP BusinessObjects BI, Edge edition software) and the 1.0.1 release of Visual Intelligence software.

Feature Pack 3 for the 4.0 release gives workers access to reports and metrics on their mobile devices, and is now compatible with Google Android-based devices and mobile BI for Apple’s iPhone.

In addition, support for Apache Hadoop and deeper support for the SAP HANA platform enable enhanced analytics performance on petabyte-scale data, while the company’s BusinessObjects Explorer software offers users  interactive access to data to create visualizations.

Deeper social integration between SAP’s StreamWork collaboration application and BI documents means team members waste less time trying to connect and more time solving problems as a group.

Announced in May, SAP Visual Intelligence, a desktop BI solution that works with BusinessObjects Explorer, has read-write integration with HANA and helps workers with minimal IT expertise analyze information and visualize data.

The feature pack release for SAP Crystal Server — the company’s entry level business intelligence software for small business — is planned to be generally available this month.

SAP is focusing on five key pillars of its ongoing BI strategy, including a core foundation for managing BI initiatives including data exploration, visualization, organization, reporting, sharing, self-service connectivity to different environments and data sources, mobile delivery of the content required by workers in the contexts they need it, real-time and predictive analytics and increased collaboration.
