Radvision Makes HD Videoconferencing Rad, Man

  • Written by Nathan Eddy
  • April 25, 2012

Unified video communications specialist Radvision, acquired by Avaya in March 2012, just gave resellers more options for their customers with the release of the Scopia XT4200 HD videoconferencing system and the Scopia XT Meeting Center, an all-in-one room system with integrated 55-inch displays.

The XT4200, aimed at small- to medium-size businesses (SMBs), offers HD audio, H.264 high profile and scalable video coding, dual-display support and a wide-angle pan-tilt-zoom camera. For extra sleekness, the XT4200 is available with optional multitouch control via Apple’s iPad.

The XT Meeting Center, powered by the company’s XT5000 HD videoconferencing room system, supports multiparty calling and two full 1080p/60fps video channels, integrated onto a specially designed cart that boosts portability.

Pricing for the XT4200 starts at $6,500, and for the XT Meeting Center, pricing starts at a cool $35,000. Both units will be available in the second quarter of 2012, and  expand the company‘s endpoint portfolio to serve the SMB  market, as well as those that rely on fully integrated all-in-one video meeting centers.

“Companies are looking to enable their employees to be more productive, and the ROI of videoconferencing in doing this has long been demonstrated,” said Roberto Giamagli, general manager of the company’s video business unit, in the release announcing the new offerings. “By offering standards-based video, and in particular, video as part of an overall UC and collaboration solutions, VARs are enabling their customers to collaborate more efficiently and effectively than ever before.”

It would still be interesting to have you report on why key executives are leaving AVaya in droves, and why they needed to ask SilverLake to fund the Radvision purchase.

to add to my previous remark — the folks leaving include Steve Fitz (sales), dave flaun (channel marketing), alan barats (CTO), jeremy butt (channels lead), etc.
rumored to be on the way out: dan murphy (CMO) and more.
    might make an interesting article.

and now that Mark Randall is on board finding new ways this week to dance around the missteps in the networking product line, they’ve laid off most of the networking sales team.
any news on what the next great strategic step is?

any luck poking around? more marketing layoffs, plus yesterday the CIO quit to go to CVS. And the ex-CIO, Bandrowzcak, who left that post to become their GM of Nortel BU (prior to Randall), quit the company to become HP’s CIO.
an awful lot of exec departures, and the ipo seems dead in the water.
    keep poking!
