Security specialist Norton, a subsidiary of Symantec (NASDAQ: SYMC), announced the availability of Norton 360 Everywhere, a security solution aimed at protecting multiple devices and platforms including PCs, Macs and Google Android-based phones and tablets.

Using a cloud-based Norton management console, which uses a single key to activate protection on the organization’s devices, IT managers can move protection from one device to another, add devices or change the number of devices protected.

Features include antivirus and antispam capabilities, protection from online identity theft, tracking and recovery for lost or stolen Android mobile devices, automatic backup and a bonus 25GB of online storage for PCs — not a bad deal.

Norton Safe Web warns users of potentially harmful websites and proactively blocks unsafe sites right in search results, and users can also erase the stuff on their smartphone or tablet via SMS if it’s lost or stolen, including any data on a phone’s memory card.

One year of protection for up to five devices will cost $99, and all 360 Everywhere customers with an active account are eligible to download the latest product versions and updates during their paid period, according to the company.

The service should be particularly helpful for SMBs with limited IT capabilities and are looking to employ a bring-your-own-device (BYOD) program while maintaining security.

One of the major concerns IT departments hold for BYOD programs is, of course, security. In an effort to cover a range of devices, Norton is offering three flavors of the platform: 360 Premier for Windows PC, Internet Security for Mac and Mobile Security for Android.
