Network Hardware Resale Extends Lineup to Servers, Storage

Used equipment reseller Network Hardware Resale (NHR) has branched out to offer new and previously owned servers and storage and associated component upgrades from manufacturers Hewlett-Packard (NYSE: HPQ) , IBM (NYSE: IBM), Dell (NASDAQ: DELL), and Oracle’s (NASDAQ: ORCL) Sun division. The hardware is priced at 30 percent to 60 percent off OEM’s suggested list, according to the company.

Used and refurbished equipment can present an attractive, cost-effective alternative for IT managers tasked with maintaining multiple generations of existing infrastructure while maximizing the value of technology investments.

NHR’s product portfolio also includes Cisco Systems (NASDAQ: CSCO) routers, switches, security and other products, Brocade (NASDAQ: BRCD) routers and switches, Dell networking gear, Extreme (NASDAQ: EXTR) switches and Juniper (NYSE: JNPR) networking equipment.

“With the addition of these new offerings, businesses all over the world can take advantage of a hybrid approach of using new and pre-owned equipment to optimize strategic investments that will help manage the data deluge, while expanding the footprint of their network infrastructure all at a lower cost,” said Mike Sheldon, NHR president and chief executive.

He said launching the server and storage lines reflected NHR’s understanding of its customers’ “pain points,” meaning the need to maximize the lifespan and efficiency of their technology investments. Along those lines, NHR will offer customers server support and maintenance through its NetSure Maintenance program.

The program includes next business day, four-hour and on-site spare hardware replacement, 24×7 technical support, multi-generation hardware support, including end-of-life, network monitoring and access to a web-based portal for customers to manage their support contracts.

Sheldon, whose father, Chuck Sheldon—a former IBM sales executive and mayor of Hermosa Beach, Calif.—founded NHR in 1986 to re-market IBM midrange computers but transitioned a few years later to selling used and refurbished Cisco networking equipment. The company sells to some 10,000 SMBs, government agencies, educational institutions, healthcare facilities and telecom service providers worldwide.
