Microsoft To Launch Lync Unified Communications in NYC

Microsoft is inviting customers, partners, and, yes, The VAR Guy to an exclusive global launch event for the Microsoft Lync 2010 unified communications product line in New York City on November 17th. Here’s the scoop.

The event will see Chris Capossela, senior vice president of the Microsoft Office Division and Gurdeep Singh Pall, corporate vice president of the Office Communications Group deliver a keynote touting the cost-saving features and new UC capabilities of Microsoft Lync, the new name for Office Communications Server.

Afterwards, The VAR Guy will apparently have a chance to give Lync a try-out personally. This is Microsoft’s big chance to prove to the who’s-who of the IT world that they know what they’re doing, and our resident blogger will be watching closely.

The VAR Guy will be sure to report back and see if all the early hype is justified, so watch this space.
