McAfee Channel Chief Alex Thurber Gains Expanded Role
According to a McAfee spokesperson, Thurber's new role is:
More changes are afoot at McAfee. Specifically, the security software specialist says Alex Thurber (pictured), senior VP of Worldwide Channel Operations, will now head McAfee’s mid-market organization. Hmmm… What’s behind the move? Here are some details.
According to a McAfee spokesperson, Thurber’s new role is:
“a natural evolution of McAfee’s go-to-market strategy, as the vast majority of sales into the mid-market are made through McAfee channel partners. The alignment between inside sales and the channel organization comes in conjunction with the new alignment of its business units, and will ensure a greater focus on the mid-market.”
As you may recall, McAfee launched a revamped partner program on May 4, 2010. Over the past decade or so, the software security provider has a mixed history with channel partners.
Thurber, a recent recruit from Cisco Systems, has been busy assuring partners that McAfee is serious about channel engagements this time around. And McAfee’s 2009 buyout of MX Logic has been mostly applauded by SaaS security channel partners.
The VAR Guy expects to speak with McAfee’s Thurber later today.
