Jets vs Patriots: OnForce CEO — Place Your Bet
Sure, the New York Jets are set to tackle the Miami Dolphins this weekend. But please humor The VAR Guy as he peeks ahead in the NFL schedule — circling Oct. 21 and Nov. 22, the dates the New York Jets will face the dreaded New England Patriots. Those showdowns will involve third-annual bets between The VAR Guy and OnForce CEO Peter Cannone. What’s at stake? Hmmm…
First, let’s rewind a bit. The VAR Guy is a long-suffering Jets fan who is gaining weight and losing hair fast. Pretty boy quarterbacks like New England Quarterback Tom Brady have no place in The VAR Guy’s locker room. Long Live Mark Sanchez. (Anybody want to send us some draft picks for Tebow?)
Meanwhile, OnForce CEO Peter Cannone is the consummate Patriots fan, always ready to ping The VAR Guy and remind our resident blogger that Brady and Belichick are a killer combo.
But are they? Hmmm… The VAR Guy has lost plenty of handshake wagers to Cannone. But there was that huge Jet playoff victory over the Pats in 2011. Care to see a few highlights:
Ah, the sweet taste of victory. How fulfilling. If only that short-lived high could last forever. But it never does.
Brady has a habit of thrashing the Jets at least once per year. But can the Jets — or the Patriots — sweep this year’s two showdowns? It’s nearly time for The VAR Guy and Cannone to place their annual bet. But what should the loser send the victor? Hmmm…
p.s. — Even when The VAR Guy loses he typically wins. If Sanchez and the Jets stumble in the regular season, you can always count on Eli and the Giants to stun the Pats in the post season.
