The rumors were correct: Ingram Micro Seismic has introduced a 30-day free trial and two months of free service for its Global NOC. Of course, the free offer comes with a few catches. And it continues the "free" theme that's sweeping across the managed services industry. Here are some more details.
First, let's rewind a bit: Last week MSPmentor reported that Ingram Micro Seismic's Global NOC effort, developed in partnership with NetEnrich, had attracted more than 200 VARs and managed service providers.
Fast forward to the Ingram Micro VentureTech (VTN) conference this week in Denver, and Ingram is making the free Global NOC trial offer to VTN members. Ingram's Twitter feed offered a short blurb about the offer, as tracked on MSPtweet.com -- an MSPmentor sister site that tracks the loudest tweets in managed services.
Ingram's strategy: Get managed service providers and VARs hooked on the Global NOC service, and then convert those channel partners into paying long-term customers for a lifetime.
Free Options AboundMeanwhile, free offers -- from software providers to distributors to associations -- continue to spread across the managed services market. And more enticements are coming. A prime example: We'll be covering some rather interesting developments at Kutenda in the next 24-hours or so.
