In the Cloud or On Prem, That Is the Question
Migrating to the cloud can be a complicated process, particularly if you’re moving a mix of newer and legacy applications there. Make a mistake where you put certain apps, and it cost you in terms of both performance and money.
In this video from the recent Channel Partners Conference & Expo in Las Vegas, Mor Cohen, chief technical officer with Turbonomic, explains how to choose which apps you should migrate to the cloud and which should stay where they are on premises, in order for customers to get the most value from their journeys to the cloud.
Engineering to a CTO, that’s a great career transition. Mor’s point on defining the application type, and determine if it fits for a high or a low performing compute makes total sense.
A hybrid approach is an efficient IT strategy to reduce costs and also improve performance.
However, I’d first educate my customer based on the NIST definition of cloud. So it helps to set up a clear basis for both sides to discuss and then take a wise decision that fits customers business goals.
We assist customers on Azure providing managed cloud hosting services, and our domain expertise is a value add.
