HP Information Optimization Solutions Unleash Big Data

Hewlett-Packard (HP) (NYSE: HPQ) announced enhancements to its Information Optimization Solutions portfolio, which helps organizations improve management of growing data volumes in the era of Big Data.

As businesses struggle with a deluge of information it is becoming increasingly important for them to turn Big Data into actionable information that can help the company grow. One of these services, Apache Hadoop, an open source-distributed data-processing technology, has been folded into HP’s AppSystems appliance.

The solution combines HP Converged Infrastructure, common management and advanced integration with Vertica 6, the latest version of the HP Vertica Analytics Platform to deliver massive data processing and real-time analytics. As part of the Vertica 6 release, the update offers enhanced support for cloud and software-as-a-service (SaaS) implementations, as well as deeper capabilities for mixed workload environments.

The company offers a pair of services to help organizations along the road to data optimization, including the Big Data Strategy Workshop, which helps businesses to reduce risk and accelerate decision making by providing a understanding of the challenges of Big Data and available solutions, and the HP Roadmap Service for Apache Hadoop, which empowers organizations to size and plan the deployment of the Hadoop platform.

HP also unveiled an autonomy solution, Optimost Clickstream Analytics, which provides marketers with an overview of customer visits, conversions and engagement through e-commerce. Organizations can blend clickstream data with other third-party data to perform more in-depth analysis.
