Amanda Jobbins, the well-regarded former Cisco Systems (NASDAQ: CSCO) Global Partner Marketing vice president and 20-year industry veteran, has landed as Sage Group’s new chief marketing officer, effective Nov. 5, 2012, according to the company.

Jobbins, who unexpectedly left Cisco for family reasons a little more than a year after moving from Europe to Silicon Valley to take the partner marketing post, will be tasked with managing Sage’s global brand, strategic product marketing, pricing strategy, corporate communications and global alliance relationships.

Guy Berruyer, Sage chief executive to whom Jobbins will report, said she will “play a key role in driving forward our strategy to capture the commercial benefits presented by changing technology and customer requirements and to achieve our growth ambition.” As part of her new position, Jobbins will join Sage’s Group Executive Committee.

If Jobbins can have the immediate impact at Sage as she had at Cisco, she will indeed play a vital part for the U.K.-based software and services provider. Partners at Cisco’s Velocity partner conference in Las Vegas this past February (a partner-centric event built by Jobbins’ predecessor Luanne Tierney) raved about her enthusiasm, fresh ideas (such as Internet video) and focus on helping the channel to better leverage marketing activities.

Jobbins’ background includes a four-year stint as Symantec’s chief marketing officer; a two-year tour as McAfee chief marketing officer, European Marketing and vice president, Sales Field Operations; and a year at IBM as director, Network Attached Storage Solutions OEM Sales and Marketing.

Sage, founded in 1981, specializes in business management software for some 6 million small- and medium-sized business customers. In mid-August Sage North America opened a new partner program for Sage One, the company’s cloud-based ERP and CRM business services for SMBs, to compensate partners and users for referrals of the SaaS solution that result in subscriptions.
