Data protection and recovery software provider Arcserve is now officially an independent entity as of August 1st, the company announced this week. Arcserve said it will continue to serve its customers as a standalone company following the completion of its sale to Marlin Equity Partners last week.

“Our continued focus is to cut through the complexity and clutter in our customers’ data protection infrastructures and deliver complete, simple and cost effective solutions for virtual and physical systems,” said Mike Crest, CEO of Arcserve in a statement. “As an independent company, Arcserve will be more agile and entrepreneurial with accelerated investments and expanded market opportunities, allowing us to do more of what we do best – serve our customers with a single-minded purpose and drive the innovations that will help them achieve their goals.”

With the transaction now complete, Arcserve plans to continue it existing long-term growth strategy and invest in the heath of the overall industry. Currently, Arcserve holds a presence in more than 50 countries with a distributor ecosystem of more than 100 partners, according to the company. Its expanding ecosystem also includes several thousand resellers and hundreds of managed service providers.

Arcserve recently introduced Arcserve Unified Data Protection (UDP), the company’s latest platform for helping IT executives backup and replicate their enterprise infrastructures.

“Arcserve is 100% committed to our global network of distributors, resellers and service providers as a stand-alone company.  We are looking forward to accelerating business opportunities and launching new programs,” said Chris Ross, VP of Global Sales at Arcserve. “The new company's focus will enable us to further redefine the competitive landscape, leverage the successful introduction of Arcserve UDP, and aggressively challenge legacy niche and other complex solutions to provide a real alternative to end-users looking for enterprise class features delivered as a complete solution that is easy to deploy and manage.”
