Distribution Watch: D&H, Ingram Micro

Welcome to this week’s Distribution Watch, our weekly collection of doings in the distribution space. This week we’ve got news from D&H Distributing and Ingram Micro (NYSE: IM), so if you’re ready, let’s take a closer look.

D&H Distributing: The computer products and consumer electronics distributor has enhanced its website, adding functionality and customization to its shopping cart, and established a new “Deal Spot” page featuring limited-time-only special pricing on closeout and refurbished merchandise.

These new web elements are in addition to D&H’s offer for VARs to accumulate double “Incentives” points through its rewards program in November, redeemable for prizes at the D&H Online Mall.

The new “Deal Spot” web page includes links to discounted closeouts, overstocked or refurbished merchandise, including notebooks, tablets, servers, monitors, desktops, IP webcams and more. Items will change frequently according to availability. Deal Spot merchandise will be marked by special icons, which will be visible on the search results page or the product detail page.

The enhanced shopping cart offers a personalized welcome for the reseller; a dynamic “flyout” cart window with new animated feedback; a link to the customer’s Watchlist; and an improved, quick-order functionality.  Additionally, the shopping cart button is now fixed at the top of the page, allowing shoppers to review the contents of their carts while viewing any page.

Ingram Micro: BrightPoint, an Ingram Micro company and provider of mobility lifecycle products and services, announced its BrightPoint North America subsidiary, has entered into a distribution agreement with ZTE (USA) Inc., a global provider of telecommunications equipment and network solutions. Under the terms of the agreement, BrightPoint Americas is appointed as a ZTE distributor to support the delivery of certain ZTE-branded wireless devices and accessories, including Android and full qwerty smartphones throughout the United States and its territories.

“This agreement is an opportunity for two world-class companies to broadly distribute ZTE devices and accessories throughout the United States,” said Richard Qu, executive vice president, ZTE USA. “We are committed to providing advanced, flexible and affordable mobile devices
that create maximum value for our customers. Our agreement with BrightPoint enables us to offer customers a deep portfolio of connected
devices.”

Ingram Micro itself has entered into a distribution agreement with SherWeb, provider of cloud services including Microsoft Hosted Exchange, SharePoint, and Lync. The agreement enables Ingram Micro resellers in the United States and Canada to co-brand SherWeb’s services, and complements the company’s current white label reseller program, according to SherWeb.

SherWeb’s distributor co-branded model at a glance, according to the company:

  • Partners can still brand their service, with a Hosted By SherWeb logo appearing in the control panel
  • Partners own the customer, set end-client pricing, and handle invoicing
  • SherWeb offers free migration and technical support directly to the partner’s end-customers

To become an authorized SherWeb partner through Ingram Micro, complete the registration form.
