Distribution Watch: Avnet, Ingram Micro, Synnex
Welcome to this week’s Distribution Watch, our weekly peek at the goings on in the distribution space. This week, we’ve got news from Avnet (NYSE: AVT), Ingram Micro (NASDAQ: IM) and Synnex (NYSE: SNX), so grab a refreshment and settle in.
Avnet: The Phoenix-based distribution giant is ranked No. 108 on the 2012 Fortune 500 list of largest U.S. companies. With $26.5 billion in sales in fiscal 2011, Avnet moved up 24 positions in the ranking from No. 132 on the 2011 list.
And that’s not all: Fortune also named Avnet tops on its “Fortune’s Most Admired” list in the “Wholesaler: Electronics” category, for the fourth year in a row.
“We are proud that our long-term, disciplined approach to profitable growth, both organically and through value-creating acquisitions, is reflected in our 2012 ranking,” said Avnet CEO Rick Hamada. “Avnet’s continued rise on the Fortune 500 list is a direct result of our team’s commitment to accelerating the success of our valued customer and supplier partners around the globe.”
Avnet debuted on the Fortune 500 in 1968, placing 467th with revenue slightly more than $146 million.
Ingram Micro: Ingram Micro’s North America Mobile team has added three to its executive ranks. Bryan Hagedon has joined as senior director of sales and business development, Tim Acker was named senior director of vendor management and operations and Dan Hogan was tapped as director of marketing for Ingram Micro Mobile North America.
The appointments were announced during the International CTIA Wireless 2012 event May 8-10, 2012 in New Orleans, where the distributor also sponsored a launch party and no doubt was responsible for many of the beads adorning the conference attendees reveling on Bourbon Street.
Synnex: Huawei Technologies has inked a distribution deal with Synnex to expand its U.S. sales of data center, unified communications and networking products. Synnex will offer Huawei’s ware through its CONVERGESolv Secure Networking division.
Huawei’s product line will be available for demos and testing at the CONVERGESolv Secure Networking proof-of-concept demo labs in Synnex’s U.S. distribution headquarters in Greenville, S.C., and in its Fremont, Calif., corporate office.
And that’s a wrap. Tune in next week for another edition of Distribution Watch.
