Dell Focusing on Fluidity at Inaugural Storage Forum

The VAR Guy is down in sunny Orlando, Fla., for the first-ever Dell Storage Forum, where he’ll be catching up with Dell and Dell’s storage partners. There’s a little bit for everyone here at the Dell Storage Forum, from virtualization and application solutions, PowerVault, EqualLogic and most importantly Dell Compellent Technology solutions. So what is The VAR Guy putting on his plate at this Smörgåsbord? Read on and find out …

The theme in at the Dell Storage Forum at the Disney Hilton is “fluid,” with a focus on Dell’s Fluid Data architecture via Compellent. Since Dell’s acquisition of Compellent, in December 2010, Dell has taken a considerable interest in assimilating its technology into the Dell Storage fold. The VAR Guy will waste no time pulling out the key ‘fluid’ themes during the opening keynote June 6. What’s new, what’s hot, what’s trending (and what’s the deal with this “fluid” theme, anyway?). Dell’s VP of Global Commercial Channel Greg Davis (a.k.a., channel chief), and Brian Bell, Compellent VP of worldwide sales, will be the key speakers.

The VAR Guy also plans to speak with a few Dell partners one on one, including Davenport Group and Sidepath, about their storage strategies and what industries are seeing the most benefits from their storage solutions. Key areas such as virtualization and cloud computing are seeing a huge need for storage, but are there other areas The VAR Guy has overlooked?

Our resident blogger will also have a chat with Bell along with Executive Director of Global Channel Partner Programs and Channel Bob Skelley to discuss key trends in the channel and what Dell is doing for its storage channel partners. Of particular interest are the key industries Dell Storage solutions are aligning with, and where Dell is headed in the future.
