Software optimization specialist Condusiv Technologies, formerly know as Diskeeper Corp., announced the launch of Diskeeper 12, its Windows application and storage performance software for servers, operating systems, desktops and notebooks. The announcement follows a retooling of the company’s channel program in May.

Diskeeper 12  prevents fragmentation at the Windows level, allowing an application or storage system to write or read at peak performance and preventing files from being broken up or scattered around, which can stress operating systems and storage devices — not to mention IT departments trying to locate fragmented files.

Updated features include an improved user interface, HyperBoot technology to improve system boot time, a Space Reclamation engine to zero out unused space from thin provisioned volumes such as SAN or virtual storage systems and system monitoring capabilities about system I/O usage, disk state and Diskeeper effectiveness. This feature provides organizations with a summary of the statistical data gathered for system performance monitoring purposes.

Another new feature is CogniSAN, which detects external resource usage within a shared storage system and boosts optimization by never competing for resources utilized by other systems over the same storage infrastructure.

Diskeeper Server Edition focuses on application performance of Windows server operating systems, while the Professional Edition provides application and storage performance optimization for business desktops and laptops. Administrator Edition software provides centralized management of Diskeeper operations for all the machines on the network, including installation, configuration, monitoring, updating, e-mail reports and alerts.
