Cisco Updates Eos Hosted Platform for Social Media
You probably don’t think ‘Cisco’ when you think ‘Social Media,’ but Cisco has been pushing its Cisco Eos SaaS platform for social entertainment for a while, and now is launching some new features to help the ‘effectiveness of site impact’ (read: money). What’s the scoop, and should VARs care? Read on…
In this case, the SaaS solution isn’t something VARs could be reselling, it’s something they could buy into. Eos now comes equipped with new video, mobile and content management features. Although it’s positioned for the media and entertainment segment, VARs or MSPs could adapt the website to roll social media features into their business or sell it into the SMB/enterprise space. It includes audience analytics, content management and other easy-up platform tools.
You can also upload video media into any format, since Eos allows for dynamic streaming based on a users’ bandwidth and platform. Eos also supports dynamic detection of mobile devices so media can be viewed via Flash or HTML5. Built-in Facebook-sharing features along with bulk media uploading for massive amounts of professional content is also available for media junkies.
Even though Cisco is positioning this as a tool for building out large media empire sites soaking with video content, enterprises could take advantage of this technology. Far too many corporate websites need a facelift, and video is certainly the future.
