Boomi, a Dell Technologies business, on Monday announced its Blueprint Framework for data management. The Blueprint Framework is a catalog of services that integrate best practices to help businesses drive key digital initiatives.

The Integration Center of Excellence (ICoE) Service, introduced in February, is one of five services encompassed in the new Blueprint Framework. The ICoE focuses on creating a community of practice that makes the Boomi platform available within the organization — to say, marketing, supply chain, production, or of other lines of business (LoBs). The Blueprint Framework catalog introduces an additional four services and best practices in three categories: leadership guidance, design practice and implementation practices.

“The library of reference architectures helps businesses to do initial assessment to identify their digital ambitions. Then we help implement the Boomi platform to support the foundation for digital transformation,” Silvia Davis, senior product and solution marketing manager at Boomi, told Channel Futures. “After that, we help make the platform available to LoBs and internal IT using the ICoE processes and services.”

So what’s in it for channel partners?

There are two aspects of the Blueprint Framework. One is services; the other is the library of artifacts.

“We give the partners all the intelligence and they can leverage the best practices to implement and be successful with their customers,” said Davis. “We’re not taking away services from partners, but we’re giving them ammunition to be successful in implementations with their customers.”

The Blueprint Framework has been in development for about a year. What it does is package years of best practices from experts in-house and in the market, such as lean portfolio management, scaled agile and DevOps. Boomi then creates a library of reference architectures to help customers do assessments.

Blueprint Framework Details

Here are three categories in the Blueprint Framework.

  • Leadership guidance gives input on how companies can implement digital implementation projects. With the Leadership Guidance there are two services: digital lab and platform strategy. “With the leadership guidance, we help customers continue to explore a long-term road map for their digital transformation and objectives,” said Davis.

  • Design practices includes two services: platform architecture and platform assurance. The platform architecture is about defining and implementing an architecture, such as a platform as a service. It includes components such as security and multicloud, and how to bring the technical aspects together in a platform. Platform assurance is the assessment and recommendations.

  • Implementation practice is where the ICoE sits. Once a company has a road map and the platform, the ICoE makes it available to the LoBs.

“Or, another situation is where there are application developers who need to do integration and the connectivity to new applications for their LoBs. They don’t want to reinvent the wheel, so they leverage the platform,” said Davis.

The Boomi Blueprint Framework and its references architecture are publicly available through the Boomi Community Boomiverse.
