Rob Ross leads one of California’s most successful VAR and managed service provider (MSP) businesses. But he now has a bigger claim to fame: Ross ranks among the world’s top Segway Polo players — a “sport” pioneered by Apple co-founder Steve “Woz” Wozniak. Skeptical? Here’s a video to prove Segway Polo exists.

During the recent Kaseya User Conference in Las Vegas, Ross told The VAR Guy that he’s the numer 11 ranked Segway Polo player in the world. Exactly how many people play Segway Polo in the world? One potential answer: At least 11.

Still, Segway Polo is serious business to Ross, Woz and other geeks on wheels. Here’s the blow-by-blow from Ross, owner of Think Smart Inc.:

I am on a Northern California team called the California Gold Rush. Woz is on a team called the Silicon Valley Aftershocks… Woz basically started Segway Polo with some friends from New Zealand.  Also go to YouTube and search for “ESPN E60 Segway Polo”; there will be a 60 second video of the sport that ESPN did on us and Woz is in it.

Here’s that video:
