Astaro Launches Web Application Security
Astaro has launched a new way to protect web servers and applications. Astaro Web Application Security is designed to protect from exploits, scripting, and other attacks, without requiring your IT admin, or anyone else to have any sort of fancy in depth protection knowledge. Here’s some perspective.
Astaro Web Application Security (AWAS) has been designed to protect Outlook Web Access, as well as other servers and applications. Tricky security hacks like SQL Injections, cross site scripting and other malicious code issues are now easily patched up, without needing the mind of a hacker at hand, Astaro claims.
Astaro says that this addition to their UTM (Unified Threat Management) offerings is something that is needed, but often overlooked, since Astaro says “not every bad guy is after credit card numbers” and could very well be hijacking your site for other nefarious hijinks.
Here’s what the complete package offers:
- Web Application Firewall: Keeps web servers and their applications like Outlook Web Access from being exploited by hackers from using SQL injection or Cross Site Scripting.
- URL Hardening: Forces visitors to interact with your servers in a way that is correct and expected, using a digital URL signing architecture.
- Cookie Signing: Ensures that cookies given out to visitors by your web servers have not been tampered with.
- Dual AntiVirus Scanning: Two separate scanning engines operate in parallel to scan and block content before it is allowed to enter or leave the network.
Astaro claims their solution will allows IT administrators to protect against nine of the OWASP Top 10 Risks without training. Plus, AWAS can be deployed anyway you want, either as a virtual, physical or software appliance.
