Alcatel-Lucent Launches OpenTouch Moniker, Expands Offerings
As headaches caused by bring your own device (BYOD) initiatives and the growing data demands of video communications frazzle IT departments, Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise is reaching out to businesses by renaming its Communications Solutions family of suites to OpenTouch Suite and expanding its reach into existing communications solutions.
The suite is designed to help organizations of all sizes tackle the major challenges of how to contain costs while supporting these trends, while keeping all employees and all devices in the loop.
With this expansion, Office Communication Solutions becomes OpenTouch Suite for Small and Medium Businesses (SMB) and Corporate Communication Solutions becomes OpenTouch Suite for Mid and Large Enterprises (MLE).
For each market segment, the OpenTouch Suite offers pure IP telephony to rich, SIP-based, multimedia communications switching, a portfolio of communication applications to address business telephony, unified communications, collaboration, mobility, videoconferencing and video-sharing, as well as client applications dedicated to smart phones, tablets and PCs.
First introduced in 2011, OpenTouch is a communications platform that offers a multimedia, multidevice real-time communications experience. The components of the suite can be delivered gradually, while the software solutions can be virtualized in data centers or deployed on-premise.
The company offers a wide variety of editions, including OpenTouch Business Edition, which targets enterprises with up to 1,500 employees, and OpenTouch Multimedia Services, a software solution that complements the OmniPCX Enterprise Communication Server.
