Adaptivity, Nimbula Partner on Cloud Migration Services

Cloud enablement software specialist Adaptivity and cloud provider Nimbula are partnering to integrate Adaptivity’s forthcoming Blueprint4Cloud decision analytics platform with the Nimbula Director cloud platform to help accelerate enterprise cloud adoption.

Adaptivity’s Blueprint4Cloud Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) platform helps organizations make the right cloud computing planning and design decisions, allowing them to quantify the demands of their business applications and chose the cloud infrastructure best suited to their needs. The company counts Unisys, Intel, Fujitsu and Hitachi Data Systems among its partners.

Nimbula, founded by the team that developed Amazon’s EC2 platform, offers Director, which provides public cloud like capabilities across a private cloud similar to EC2 and VMware environments. Director is an Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) software solution, designed to help businesses build on-premise private or hybrid clouds.

In addition, Director clouds can span multiple geographic locations to create a global pool of compute, network, and storage resources and are backed by a permissions and authentication system combined with the company’s policy-based network isolation functionality for enhanced security.

Beneath the virtual data center abstraction sits a physical layer of storage, network and compute hardware managed by multilayer control software. Director integrates the Linux operating system and KVM hypervisor with node and network management software on each node for automated deployment and configuration.

As more businesses move legacy IT infrastructure into an internal cloud environment, a growing number are having difficulty knowing where to start or which architecture is right for them. Helping these companies migrate, scale and protect information when moving to the cloud is the focus of this partnership.
