It’s 501 Somewhere: ConnectWise’s Jason Magee on the Thoma Bravo Buyout
It’s a brave new world for ConnectWise. Almost three months ago, the biggest MSP business management software provider in the channel took a buyout from private equity firm Thoma Bravo in a long-awaited move.
The last big player in its space to do so, ConnectWise’s seeming reluctance to accept institutional investment puzzled some in the industry. Over the last several years, as its competitors nabbed splashy headlines and used their capital to snap up other solution providers like a high-stakes game of jacks, ConnectWise instead invested heavily into its partner community, cleaning up its mission, clarifying its go-forward strategy and carefully weighing its options.
In this episode of It’s 501 Somewhere, we sat down with new CEO Jason Magee, who explains why they took their time, what was attractive about Thoma Bravo and what partners need to be doing if they, too, are looking to be acquired.
