Distribution Watch: Westcon Group, immixGroup, Arrow Electronics

Wow, is it Thursday already? By now you all know what that means—a fresh round of distribution-centric news delivered right to your screen from your friendly neighborhood VAR Guy. This week we’re counting down the top news from WestconGroup, immixGroup and Arrow Electronics (ARW).

WestconGroup: This week, WestconGroup celebrated its 30-year anniversary of providing service and support for its global network of channel partners. Special celebration activities will be taking place at each of the distributor’s 100-plus locations worldwide to recognize its achievements in the channel.

WestconGroup was formed in a garage in 1985 in New York and has since grown into a $4.85 billion global distribution company, according to the announcement. It currently goes to market under the Westcon and Comstor brands.

“Over the last three decades, we’ve evolved from a startup company helping enable PC networking in and around New York City to a global powerhouse of value-added technology distribution and services,” said Dolph Westerbos, CEO of WestconGroup, in a statement. “Westcon and Comstor have created billions in new commerce—which has grown our customers’ and vendors’ businesses and improved the lives of millions of people helped by our technology solutions. It is with tremendous pride that we celebrate this milestone in the history of our company.”

immixGroup: Government-centric distributor immixGroup formed a new partnership with GlobalSCAPE (GSB) to distribute the company’s information exchange solutions to public sector channel partners and government agencies.

immixGroup will provide its channel partners with access to GlobalSCAPE’s flagship Enhanced File Transfer solution as well as the company’s Professional Services offerings. The distributor operates as part of Arrow Electronics.

“Our relationship with immixGroup will allow us to further expand our reach within the government and public sector, collectively advancing our capabilities within this market,” said Matt Goulet, senior vice president of Sales and Marketing at Globalscape. By adding immixGroup to our ecosystem of value-added distributors, we bring on a collaborative distributor that will open new pathways to federal customers and systems integrators, and together we’ll help them find the secure data exchange solutions that government and public sector organizations so desperately need.”

Arrow Electronics: Arrow was recently awarded the Palo Alto Networks 2015 Americas Distribution Relationship of the Year Award for the company’s success in implementing demand-generation campaigns each quarter and for recruiting and onboarding new business relationships for the network security company.

The award was presented at the Palo Alto Networks Sales Kickoff in Las Vegas last month, according to the announcement.

“Arrow has done an exceptional job over the past year,” said Todd Palmer, vice president of Americas Channel Sales for Palo Alto Networks. “Their investments in enablement, partner sales development and building a dedicated team to support our company underscore their commitment to Palo Alto Networks. We look forward to huge opportunities this year and beyond."

As always, thanks for reading everyone. We’ll see you back here next week. Enjoy the Labor Day weekend, and keep on distributing.
