Distribution Watch: Pax8, StarLink, Tech Data

Happy Tuesday, and welcome to Distribution Watch. This week we’ve got the latest news from our friends at Pax8, StarLink and Tech Data (TECD) in one handy location.

Pax8: Pax8 channel partners can now sell CloudJumper’s Workspace as a Service  (WaaS) platform, called nWorkSpace, to their end customers thanks to a new distribution agreement. The value-added cloud distributor said the addition of nWorkspace to its portfolio will allow customers to utilize the cloud for greater business agility.

"With tight integration of software, infrastructure, and services, nWorkSpace is a fully packaged solution that allows Pax8 partners to stand up a WaaS offering quickly and easily," said JD Helms, president, CloudJumper. "This partnership supports Pax8 and its channel in the delivery of high value services as an increasing number of businesses transition to cloud-based IT.”

StarLink: Network and data security value-added distributor StarLink has named Dan Haley as CEO of its North American operations and opened a new US headquarters in Cambridge, Mass, the company announced on Thursday. Both Haley’s appointment and the decision to move the company’s US headquarters to Massachusetts are part of StarLink’s renewed drive to expand its influence into North America.

Haley has been in the IT industry for 35 years, and previously served as president and CEO of Bradford Networks, according to the announcement. StarLink hopes to employ at least 10 full-time employees in North America before the end of the calendar year.

"We are in the midst of finalizing the extension of our initial vendor contracts, and beginning an aggressive recruitment drive across various functions including Sales, Sales Engineering, Channel and Operations,” he said. “Our strategy for the remainder of this year is to create awareness about StarLink within the channel and customer communities."

Tech Data:  Tech Data has partnered with GPS-based mobile app solution provider ActSoft to distribute the company’s machine-to-machine and mobile resource management solutions to resellers in the United States.

Tech Data said the agreement would open new sales opportunities for its channel partners in vertical markets including transportation, construction and education. The full portfolio of ActSoft solutions is available now through the Tech Data Mobile Solutions & Retail division, according to the announcement.

“The addition of Actsoft’s mobile solutions to our portfolio further enables our solution providers, especially those who partner with small to medium-sized businesses (SMBs), to help their clients better manage mobile employees and vehicle fleets,” said Yvette Martinez-Wilson, director, Carrier Relations & Services, Mobile Solutions & Retail at Tech Data. “Along with this niche offering, Actsoft services can be combined with our carrier programs to create fully connected turn-key solutions for our customers in a variety of vertical markets.”

Thanks for reading, and we’ll see you next week! Until then, keep on distributing.
