Distribution Watch: D&H, Synnex, Tech Data

Happy Friday, and welcome to Distribution Watch, our weekly look-see at what’s going on with the distributors we all know and love. This week we’ve got news from D&H Distributing, Synnex (SNX) and Tech Data (TECD), so grab your binoculars and let’s take a closer look.

D&H Distributing: Training is on the agenda at D&H, with the distributor planning to offer a D&H and Lenovo Server Build Session Tuesday, Oct. 8, to be held at the Tripp Lite Integrated Solutions Center in Chicago.

The session will feature presentations from Lenovo, Intel (INTC), Microsoft (MSFT) and Tripp Lite as well as a live server demo. In addition, D&H’s Solutions Specialist Team will be available for questions. D&H Lenovo partners will receive $50 off the cost of the server demo.  More information is available via email at [email protected].

Synnex: The distributor has joined the Comcast Business Solutions Provider Program. It is the first distributor to join the program and will serve as a master agent for Comcast Business’s ethernet, Internet, voice, cloud and TV offerings. Synnex will offer the solutions through its MOBILITYSolv practice.

“We are very excited about the relationship with Comcast Business, a key platform of fixed line service offerings in our MOBILITYSolv strategy,” said Kevin Murai, Synnex president and CEO, in a prepared statement. “Comcast’s large national footprint of connectivity solutions along with their hosted voice and video solutions provide a natural complement to the needs of Synnex customers. By offering these services, our VARs can now provide a singular source to the end user—a true differentiator which allows them to grow their recurring revenues at an accelerated pace.”

Tech Data: The broadline distribution behemoth has added yet another technology to its line card, taking on OCZ Technology Group and its line of solid-state disk (SSD) drives. Under the terms of the agreement, Tech Data's Advanced Infrastructure Solutions (AIS) Division is now authorized to distribute OCZ's complete portfolio of flash-based enterprise and client SSDs and associated software solutions to its sales channel throughout North America and Latin America.

"We are very excited to add OCZ to our AIS portfolio, as their complete product portfolio will complement our growing list of enterprise storage solutions as we expand IT sales opportunities," said Ken Griffin, Vice President, AIS Storage Solutions at Tech Data. "Offering OCZ's high-performance SSDs, innovative virtualization software and its unique SQL acceleration card through our AIS Division will provide resellers looking to grow their storage operations with leading-edge technology, expert IT knowledge, and best-in-class services."

To help drive and support the Tech Data distribution channel and encourage VAR participation, OCZ developed its Elite VAR Program (EVP) that provides authorized Tech Data AIS Division VARs with sales incentives, product training, service levels, technical support and resources in support of OCZ's enterprise product line card.

And that’s a wrap for this week’s Distribution Watch. We’re resting our eyes next week so look out for the next Distribution Watch post-Labor Day. Until then, stay safe.
