Hello there, fellow distribution watchers, and welcome back to another edition of everyone’s favorite hub for IT distributor news. This week we’ve got some juicy news from Avnet (AVT), Tech Data (TECD) and Synnex (SNX).

Avnet: Avnet Electronics Marketing Americas has been named the 2015 Distributor of the Year by TDK-Lambda Americas, a manufacturer of enterprise switching and power supplies. Avnet took home the award for posting record-high sales in North America with the vendor this year, according to the announcement.

“This is a major milestone, long in the making, and a wonderful accomplishment for both organizations—exemplifying our mutual commitment to true collaboration,“ said Julie Fajardo, director, National Distribution Sales at TDK-Lambda, in a statement.

Avnet said it plans to continue building its relationship with TDK-Lambda in the coming years.

“We expect to achieve even greater results in the years to come as we work more closely together with TDK-Lambda to provide customers with the technologies they want and the technical expertise they need,” said Ed Smith, president of Avnet Electronics Marketing Americas.

Tech Data: Tech Data CEO Bob Dutkowsky was recently honored as a recipient of the regional 2015 Ernst & Young (EY) Entrepreneur of the Year award as Corporate Innovator during a gala in Orlando last week.

The annual program honors entrepreneurs regionally, with winners eligible for consideration for the EY Entrepreneur of the Year National Program. National winners will be announced at an annual gala in California later this year, according to the announcement.

"For more than 40 years, Tech Data has shown its entrepreneurial spirit, continually reinventing itself within a dynamic industry," said Dutkowsky. "While I'm grateful for this award, it is truly a reflection of the talented and dedicated colleagues that I have the privilege to work with at Tech Data. It's through their efforts that we have grown, innovated and adapted to the dramatic changes in our marketplace."

Synnex: Synnex has signed Samsung Techwin to its VISUALSolv physical security solutions line card in an effort to expand the amount of Samsung offerings it provides to channel partners. The company is a subsidiary of Samsung that specializes in surveillance, aeronautics, automations and weapons technology.

The agreement fits Synnex’s and Samsung’s joint efforts to offer more converged and connected solutions to customers from a single source, according to the announcement. All of Samsung Techwin’s video surveillance products are now available to Synnex resellers in the physical security, Pro AV and IT channels.

"Samsung Business has a longstanding relationship with Synnex, bringing other Samsung technology products to the channel," said Tom Cook, vice president of Sales at Samsung Techwin. "Synnex's unique position as a distributor with IT roots with a focus on specialty technologies like security surveillance gives more breadth to what our joint customers can offer their end user."

Thanks for reading folks. We hope you have a great weekend and we’ll see you back here next week. Until then, keep on distributing.
