Happy Thursday, Distribution Watchers! This week we've got the latest news from our friends at Avnet, Ingram Micro and Arrow Electronics.

Avnet: Avnet has named Chuck Delph as president of Avnet Electronics Marketing for the Americas, effective beginning July 3. He will replace Ed Smith, who will be promoted to senior vice president of Avnet embedded solutions on the same day, the company said.

Delph, is currently the senior vice president of Avnet Electronics Marketing Americas. He will report to Avnet EM Worldwide President Gerry Fay in his new position, according to the announcement.

“Chuck brings a high level of energy, passion and industry experience to this position – which is a powerful combination,” said Fay in a statement. “His diverse background and proven success in the Americas market will serve us, our customers and partners well going forward.”

Ingram Micro: Ingram recently introduced its FirePOWER Network Threat Assessment solutions, which are expected to help U.S. and Canadian resellers to streamline their IT security decision-making processes.

The solutions, which were co-developed by Cisco, encompass a “professional onsite installation of non-evasive Cisco ASA hardware” designed to help accelerate partner sales cycles, according to the announcement. The solutions are part of Ingram Micro’s Professional Services portfolio.

"Ingram Micro and Cisco have teamed to make it easier and more cost-effective for channel partners to properly assess and proactively answer the market's call for IT security services and solutions that simplify security architecture and solve for the most sophisticated of network security challenges," said Greg Richey, director of Professional Services and Training at Ingram Micro. "Our end-to-end FirePOWER Network Threat Assessments are exactly what many channel partners need in order to make an undeniable business case for deploying new technology and delivering IT security-as-a-service."

Arrow Electronics: Andrew S. Bryant, Arrow’s COO of Global Components and Global Enterprise Computing Solutions, will retire as of April 30, the company announced last week.

Andy King, president of Arrow’s Global Components business, and Sean Kerins, president of Arrow’s Global Enterprise Computing Solutions business, are scheduled to replace Bryant following his retirement. Both men will report to Michael J. Long, chairman, president and CEO of Arrow, according to the announcement.

“Andy has been an instrumental part of driving the growth and success of Arrow, and further advancing our sales and marketing teams,” said Long. “He has been a valuable member of our leadership team, and we wish him all the best in his well-deserved retirement.”
