Alert Logic has launched versions of its Alert Logic Log Manager and Alert Logic Threat Manager for the Google Cloud Platform. With these new services available on Google, Alert Logic is providing customers of the cloud infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) offering with IDS and log management—a first, according to Alert Logic.

The security-as-a-service vendor has released versions of both Log Manager and Threat Manager on other popular IaaS clouds, including Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure. With the two cloud solutions, Alert Logic is aiming to provide Google customers with network and system security for workloads running on the Google public cloud.

“The same infrastructure, tools, processes and systems that are used internally to build applications like Google Search and Gmail are now available to power your startup or business,” said Gray Hall, CEO of Alert Logic, in a prepared statement. “With our unique platform, process and software solutions, we’re excited to be the first to offer security-as-a-service for Google Cloud Platform and its users.”e

Some of the benefits Alert Logic is touting for its cloud security services include:

  • Deep insights into security using Alert Logic’s big data analytics and correlation engine, global threat visibility and security research focused on emerging threats and security best practices.

  • Continuous protection down the application stack with Alert Logic’s Security Operations Center, which analyzes, escalates and works with customers to remediate threats with actionable intelligence.

  • A cloud-based delivery model, enabling customers to tailor their opex budgets to the security-as-a-service offerings without the need to manage hardware and software.

Alert Logic noted in its announcement that clouds are inherently secure, but the applications built on top of those clouds can be susceptible to vulnerabilities; and that’s where cloud-based security tools play a significant role.
