ADTRAN Targets High-Security Verticals with NetVanta Update

ADTRAN is introducing new security features to boost the NetVanta routing and switching platforms. But it's more than a standard update; this effort is designed for security and a productivity boost in target vertical markets. Read on for the details …

The update to the NetVanta routers and switches are designed to target customers specifically in health care, hospitality and retail. These vertical markets can benefit from the 802.3at Power over Ethernet (PoE+) standard that is demanded for higher-security platforms and devices (such as IP security cameras) and needed for compliance with standards such as HIPAA for healthcare and PCI for retail.

Specific new features include:

  • NetVanta Security Audit – for identifying common security vulnerabilities in the network. An IT admin can determine exactly which computers are violating or obeying network security policies as well as which users have unsafe passwords. The audit also provides granular detail about firewall and wireless settings.

  • NetVanta Desktop Audit – similar to the NetVanta Security Audit, all devices on the network can be detected for appropriate corporate security policies.

  • Denial of Service (DoS) Protection – prevents commonly known DoS attacks.

  • Network Diagnostics – helps fast-track network issues by monitoring DHCP traffic

  • Cable/Small Form Factor Pluggable (SFP) Diagnostics – provides help when looking into cable and SFP interfaces via the NetVanta GUI, for port switching and more.

All the shiny new features are ready at no extra charge when upgrading or using the ADTRAN Operating System version 17.9. Said features come bundled with the new NetVanta 1534P, at a price of $2,895, or the NetVanta 1544P with an MSRP of $3,495.
