HP, Hexaware to Expand on Mobile Application Partnership

In early July we discussed the HP mobile application testing lab that Hexaware built in Saltillo, Mex. in March 2011. And as promised, I spoke with Hexaware and HP Brass this week to learn more about HP-Hexaware joint initiatives.

“The FocusFrame partnership was extremely successful,” said HP Software Director of Product and Applications Roi Carmel, “Partnering with Hexaware is an advantage in the mobile space. It’s a company that can guide a customer in the best approach to using mobile technology because they’ve used it themselves. They also accelerate our time-to-market.”

Head of Hexaware Quality Assurance and Testing (QATS) Anand Moorthy explained how the HP partnership has influenced Hexaware’s vision: “It sparked a  mobile practice within Hexaware,” he said. “Particularly with automation around mobile devices. Our expertise is to build on HP products. We try to build competence into specific verticals.”

Anand said Hexaware’s service has been most popular among finance and travel companies, but there’s been a steady increase in retail clients as retailers begin to understand how mobile devices can help them. For example HP and Hexaware recently helped Cuauhtémoc Moctezuma, a Mexican subsidiary of Heineken, cut the cost of testing its mobile devices in half and reduced the company’s test cycle time by 50 percent to 70 percent. HP has been the single point of contact for global end-user workplace environment needs for Heineken since August 2007.

What’s next for the two companies? Hexaware’s Deepika Mamnani said Hexaware is currently testing ways to bring HP mobile products to the iOS, Android, BlackBerry and Windows Mobile devices.
