Dropbox has acquired MobileSpan, a Santa Clara, Calif.-based technology company focused on transitioning enterprises to a bring-your-own-device (BYOD) world. The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

MobileSpan executives made the announcement in a blog post this week: “MobileSpan is joining forces with Dropbox to tackle enterprise productivity in the mobile era.”

According to the note — which is signed by the company’s three founders: Sanjeev Radhakrishnan, Amit Joshi and Nils Bunger — MobileSpan’s vision for “enterprise productivity and collaboration aligns greatly with the vision for Dropbox for Business.”

As a result of the deal, MobileSpan will cease active development for its platform to shift all of its energies and resources to Dropbox for Business. Existing customers can continue using the product until December 31, 2014.

MobileSpan raised $2.3 million in Series A financing in January 2013. The round was led by True Ventures, with participation from Greylock Partners, K9 Ventures, Alchemist Accelerator and others.

The letter concluded with a simple thank you:

“We extend our heartfelt thanks to all our customers and users whose support and feedback was instrumental in honing MobileSpan into a great enterprise productivity tool, as well as our investors at True Ventures, K9 Ventures and Greylock Partners. We’re excited to join Dropbox to break new ground and reach greater heights.”

Dropbox’s acquisition of MobileSpan follows its recent acquisiton of Droptalk, a web-based messaging developer. The company grabbed Droptalk while it still was in stealth mode.
