2016 MSP 501 Update: Yes, We Will Extend the Deadline for Submissions

The 2016 edition includes a number of improvements and refinements to ensure that the annual ranking is the most complete, precise and forward-looking study available on the managed service provider market.

You’ve asked and now we are responding: Yes, we will extend the deadline for submitting an application for 2016 MSP 501 list and study.

We appreciate the hundreds and hundreds of you that have already submitted your information and will begin crunching the numbers henceforth. But we have been asked repeatedly by others trying to close the quarter and prepare for tax season for additional time. Due to the large number of requests, we have decided to extend the deadline.

The last day to submit your application is Friday, April 22, 2016.

In a previous post, we revealed some preliminary findings based on early submissions. They show that recurring revenue has increased, on average, 8 percent year-over-year at MSP organizations. In addition, we found that nearly 80 percent of MSPs added full-time employees in 2015.

We have also heard that you like the new methodology for the 2016 MSP 501, which asks for revenue verification for the first time. While an extra step for you, you have told us that you appreciate the effort we are putting forth to make the MSP 501 the most complete, precise and forward-looking study available on the managed service provider market. This year’s study will examine the business models, technologies, vertical markets and customer segments that MSP companies engage most.

What is more, you’ve told us that you like our decision to make our ranking algorithm public for the first time. While individual organizations can count on the confidentiality that we have always promised, we will reveal the overall metric we use to rank one company over another on our list. We decided to do so to ensure that the MSPmentor ranking is the universal benchmark by which MSP organizations will be compared, year after year.

To achieve greater accuracy and thoroughness, Penton Technology has teamed with Clarity Channel Advisors to help produce the 2016 MSP 501 survey. Working with the Clarity Intelligence Platform, MSPmentor will leverage a streamlined method for submitting data this year that not only ensures greater accuracy but also preserves that confidentiality we mentioned before.

Again, we are grateful to the hundreds and hundreds of you that have already submitted your applications. Now, we eagerly await the submissions from those who have requested additional time. This includes many of our readers overseas.

Should you need assistance with your submission, you can reach out to me, T.C. Doyle, or my colleague Aldrin Brown, the Editor-in-Chief at MSPmentor.
