Egenera, BetterCloud Fill VP Sales Positions

Two cloud companies announced new vice presidents of sales this week. Both Egenera, which focuses on converged infrastructure and cloud management software, and BetterCloud, which provides enterprise cloud management and security software for Google Apps, have brought on new sales leads to continue growing their respective cloud businesses.

Egenera has brought Rick Carbone on as vice president of Sales—a move that speaks well to the company’s plans for the channel. Carbone is a veteran of IT sales, with more than 35 years of experience in enterprise computing and professional services sales. But even more importantly, Carbone is a longtime veteran of channel-focused sales in North America.

Most of Carbone’s career was spent at Unisys, where he held a variety of sales and marketing roles, including channel development.

It speaks to Egenera’s plans for the future. With Carbone at the sales helm, the ship is likely to steer a little more in the direction of the channel. Officially, though, Carbone will be responsible for both direct and indirect sales at Egenera.

As for BetterCloud, the company’s new senior vice president of Worldwide Sales will take command of the more than 10-person sales team. Brian Doheny is being tasked with ramping up BetterCloud’s enterprise sales.

Doheny brings more than 20 years of experience to BetterCloud, and in past roles he has worked to build out channel sales models, including at Altiris before it was acquired by Symantec.

It looks like Doheny will be responsible for building out the company’s channel sales model and working with a variety of partners to further BetterCloud’s enterprise computing business.
