This week we bring you distribution news from Avnet, Tech Data, Cloud Harmonics and Pax8.

Welcome back to Distribution Watch, where we bring you highlights from distributors over the last week. Today we rounded up news from Avnet (AVT), Tech Data (TECD), Cloud Harmonics and Pax8.

Avnet – Avnet last week announced the expansion of its hybrid cloud portfolio with the addition of co-location services from CoreSite, a data center and interconnection services provider of with direct access to cloud providers such as AWS, Google and Microsoft. CoreSite’s co-location services will be available both in the Avnet catalog and through the Avnet Cloud Marketplace.

“Avnet’s new relationship with CoreSite makes it simpler than ever for partners to capitalize on the growing demand among customers for hybrid cloud environments,” said Tim FitzGerald, vice president of Avnet’s digital transformation business in the Americas. “CoreSite’s co-location solutions combined with the strength of Avnet’s cloud and hybrid data center services will help partners quickly solve for common customer challenges in the cloud, including cost, performance and security. This is another great example of how Avnet continues to innovate its cloud solutions that span all solutions aspects, including design, integration, delivery, implementation, migration and disposal.”

TechData – TechData announced the launch of its first-ever Advanced Technologies Playbook to bring information on transformational industry trends, information and knowledge to its North American VAR community. The Playbook includes industry-related articles and product-focused content for areas such as the cloud, data analytics, security and the Internet of Things (IoT).

“The goal of our Advanced Technologies Playbook is to help our VAR community build their knowledge base and leverage best practices,” said Maurice Hamilton, vice president, Technical Services at Tech Data. “We’re providing the tools to help solution providers quickly migrate and seamlessly adapt to industry trends so they’re prepared for the next generation of technology.”

Cloud Harmonics – Menlo Security and Cloud Harmonics have announced joint initiatives to address enterprise malware threats. Utilizing Cloud Harmonics two-tier distribution model, the companies aim to provide Menlo’s cloud-based isolation platform in conjunction with training, services and technological support to Cloud Harmonics’ partner VARs.

“We were impressed with the technology built by the seasoned team at Menlo Security,” said Doug Chalmers, COO of Cloud Harmonics. “Their innovative approach to malware prevention and commitment to the channel made them a natural fit. We look forward to developing the courseware, certifications and services that will educate, engage and enable partners to sell and profit from Menlo Security.”

Pax8: Value-added cloud distributor Pax8 is now carrying Vision Solutions’ complete line of disaster recovery and migration software including the company’s Double Take offerings, according to an announcement made earlier this month.

Pax8 said it is also selling the ProfitBricks Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) platform as a compliment to the Vision Solutions portfolio.

"As cloud technology continues to rapidly evolve, Pax8 is helping IT solution providers adopt services that will enable their business transition to a cloud-based infrastructure," said Ryan Walsh, senior vice president of Partner Solutions at Pax8.
