Box (BOX) is replacing a mishmash of legacy business communication services with the RingCentral (RNG) cloud platform in an effort to streamline its internal enterprise communications.
According to an announcement by RingCentral on Monday, Box will deploy RingCentral Office, a unified communications-as-a-service solution across its offices around the world. Initial deployments of RingCentral Office were in its offices in Austin, New York City, Redwood City, and San Francisco. The final phase of deployment – in Box’s U.K. office – will take place this month.
“As we add more employees and offices in different locations, we require a solution that consolidates our entire enterprise communications in the cloud for voice and web meetings and offers the agility to grow. RingCentral addresses this while delivering a very high standard of reliability, security and quality to successfully run our global business,” Box CIO Paul Chapman said in a statement. “Not only have we reduced the operational headaches of managing multiple, single point communication solutions, but we’ve also cut costs by 80 percent since moving to RingCentral, and we’re on track to save $800,000 – $900,000 per year.”
RingCentral said that part of the reason Box chose its platform is because of a robust set of APIs that allow integration and customization. RingCentral is integrated into Box, making it easy to share documents shared in Box through RingCentral. Box said it plans to use the RingCentral for Google for Work integration and the RingCentral for Salesforce integration, as well.
