Let’s kick off another year of distribution-centric news with the latest from Ingram Micro (IM) Tech Data (TECD) and Lifeboat Distribution.
Ingram Micro: Ingram Micro has partnered with data insight provider CloudPhysics to bring the company’s software as-a-service analytics solution to its reseller ecosystem.
The addition of the CloudPhysics SaaS solution to Ingram’s portfolio is expected to allow VMware customers to detect potential risks to their vSphere environments and protect their virtual infrastructure, according to the announcement.
"With CloudPhysics, our channel partners and their customers gain immediate insight into their infrastructure,” said Scott Zahl, vice president and general manager of Ingram Micro Advanced Solutions, in a statement. “This allows them to make more informed decisions about how best to manage and maintain a healthy, hybrid IT ecosystem."
In other Ingram Micro news, the distributor recently partnered with Truphone, a mobile communication solution provider, to offer the company’s portfolio to its resellers. Truphone said the deal will allow it to grow the company’s burgeoning indirect sales channel, according to Telecompaper.
Tech Data: Tech Data has partnered with KoolSpan to offer the company’s mobile device and desktop phone security solutions to its U.S. resellers. Channel partners can purchase the solutions through Tech Data’s Mobile Solutions & Retail division, according to the announcement.
Tech Data said the addition of KoolSpan’s mobile security solutions to its portfolio is important, especially as enterprise mobile devices become larger targets for hackers and other malicious parties.
“We are excited to partner with Tech Data to leverage their vast channel reach of new customers,” said Thomas Bryant, chief commercial officer at KoolSpan. “Our commitment to the channel means new business opportunities for Tech Data reseller partners and the ability to deliver greater value across their mobility portfolios.”
Lifeboat Distribution: Company veteran Brian Gilbertson has been promoted to vice president of Business Development, Lifeboat announced on Wednesday. Gilbertson will be tasked with managing and growing the company's field sales organization in addition to his previous responsibilities in seeking out new strategic vendor relationships and driving reseller sales.
Prior to his appointment, Gilbertson served as senior director of New Vendor Business Development at Lifeboat. Prior to joining Lifeboat in April, he held the role of senior director of Sales, North America at Arrow Electronics for nearly 12 years.
"Brian has been a tremendous asset in accelerating the strategic expansion of solutions we offer to our resellers - as well as in driving growth within the new vendor lines - and we look forward to his continued contribution to the growth of our organization in his expanded role," said William R. Botti, executive vice president of Lifeboat Distribution.
