Distribution Watch: Ingram Micro, D&H, Avnet

This week in Distribution Watch we're counting down the latest news from Ingram Micro, D&H Distributing and Avnet.

Hello everyone, and thanks for stopping by to hear the latest news from your favorite IT distributors. This week we’re counting down the latest news from Ingram Micro (IM), D&H and Avnet (AVT).

Ingram Micro: Ingram Micro has teamed with Silver Peak to help the company deliver its Unity EdgeConnect SD-WAN solution to partners in the United States.

The solution is expected to help customers transition from legacy MPLS networks to broadband connectivity, according to the announcement.

“Interest in Silver Peak’s EdgeConnect SD-WAN solution is off the charts, and by fortifying a distribution alliance with Ingram Micro, we are able to more rapidly meet our customers’ demands for deploying a broadband or hybrid WAN,” said Bob Bruce, senior vice president of worldwide channel sales for Silver Peak.  “Ingram Micro is a well-known and established information technology distribution powerhouse and we are thrilled to work together to expand our SD-WAN footprint.”

D&H: Our friends in Harrisburg, PA announced an initiative to boost sales for education-centric resellers that includes new training venues, partner resources, marketing materials and special pricing. The program, which is scheduled to run until June, kicked off this week with the first of two webcasts focusing on K-12 education, according to the announcement.

D&H is working with 30 manufacturer partners on the program. The company also has a dedicated resource page called “The K-12 Opportunity” with information regarding federal E-Rate allocation and a series of so-called “Battlecards” comparing pricing and product information between vendors.

“Our 2016 education focus is based on the success we’ve been building with resellers across this vertical,” said Peter DiMarco, vice president of VAR sales, computer products division at D&H Distributing. “Due to ongoing programs such as E-Rate and mandates for increased technology in the classroom, we foresee continued momentum in the K-12 vertical and took the opportunity to provide deeper support. With the right tools and solutions, we can enhance the VAR’s ability to negotiate this market, empowering them to grow their practices.”

Avnet: Avnet is the latest company to join the VMware Partner Professional Services Program (PPSP), the company announced last week. VMware named Avnet as an Enterprise partner in recognition of the distributor’s work in selling virtualization solutions through its global reseller network, according to the press release.

As a member of the VMware Partner Professional Services Program, Avnet said it now has access to additional training, IP materials and sales support from the virtualization company so they can expand their sale of virtual solutions to partners.

“Avnet already has strong VMware-certified capabilities and resources as they relate to software-defined enterprises, and our participation in this program further emphasizes our commitment to the success of our VMware partners,” said Mike Heintzelman, Avnet’s vice president of global suppliers. “The benefits of this program will positively augment our existing resources, and our team stands ever-ready to continue building on the success that we’ve enjoyed with VMware for more than a decade.”

As usual, thanks for stopping by everyone. We’ll see you back here in seven days for more news from your favorite distributors. Until then, keep on distributing.
