It's only the second week of 2016, and IT distributors are already off to a roaring start. This week we're featuring the latest news from our friends at Global Convergence Inc. (GCI), Ingram Micro (IM) and Arrow Electronics (ARW).
GCI: GCI signed a global distribution agreement this week with outdoor wireless bridge manufacturer LightPointe that is expected to help channel partners offer new solutions surrounding the Internet of Things, mobile device and mobile security markets.
GCI will offer LightPoint’s point-to-point radios, hybrid laser-radios and Ultra Low Latency wireless backhaul bridges, according to the announcement. The deal is also expected to add new solutions to GCI’s enterprise mobility portfolio.
“We are excited to enter this distribution agreement with GCI, a leading provider of information technology products,” said John Taylor, vice president of Sales at LightPointe, in a statement. “GCI’s mobile solutions and enterprise-class services capabilities make them an ideal partner to help bring our new AireLink Series of 60 GHz wireless point-to-point (PtP) radios, 70/80 GHz long range backhaul radios, and all-weather hybrid Free Space Optics bridges to their well-established base of valued customers.”
Arrow: Arrow Electronics has promoted Mark Taylor to the role of president of its global OEM Computing Solutions business.
Taylor, who previously served as vice president of the company’s Enterprise Computing Solutions business in North America, has held several roles within the company since joining in 2007, according to the announcement.
“Mark has a proven track record of building strong teams and delivering results,” said Andrew S. Bryant, COO of Arrow’s Global Components and Enterprise Solutions businesses. “He will be leading the best team in the industry, and his capabilities will accelerate our business growth.”
Ingram Micro: Ingram Micro’s global resellers now have access to Lookout’s Mobile Threat Protection security solution to help customers protect their enterprise smart devices.
The agreement also provides Ingram Micro resellers with access to all of Lookout’s upcoming products, according to the announcement. Lookout Mobile Threat Protection launched in June as the company’s flagship product.
“Every mobile workforce faces security challenges,” said Eric Kohl, executive director of Advanced Solutions, Ingram Micro. “Delivering a compelling, differentiated security solution that embraces mobility, rather than restricts it, provides Lookout’s channel partners with a services advantage enterprises value and businesses will rely on.”
That's all for this week, so make sure to stop by next week for more news from your favorite distributors. Until then, keep on distributing.
