Distribution Watch: Arrow, Avnet, Ingram Micro

In this heat wave edition of Distribution Watch, we've got news from Arrow, Avnet and Ingram Micro.

Happy Friday, and welcome to Distribution Watch, our weekly look-see at all things distribution-related. We’re all doing our best to stay cool in this sweltering heat, but the show must go on, so this week we’ve got news from Arrow Electronics (ARW), Avnet (AVT) and Ingram Micro (IM). Grab your fan and a cool drink, because it’s about to get even hotter.

Arrow Electronics: The distributor has signed on with Tintri to distribute its “purpose-built, ‘VM-aware’ storage platforms” in North America. This is the latest in an alliance formed October 2012 whereby Arrow agreed to distribute Tintri VM-aware storage in 13 European countries.

“Tintri’s focus on VM-granular manageability, deep insight and predictable performance can help IT organizations maximize the benefits of virtualization,” said Mike Nowlan, vice president of North American security, virtualization, and networking for Arrow’s enterprise computing solutions segment.  “Arrow is pleased to offer Tintri to our solution providers, given Tintri simplifies the process of provisioning VMs, monitoring performance and keeping applications running smoothly.”

Avnet: The Phoenix-based distributor’s Avnet Embedded division has entered into a distribution agreement for Onyx Healthcare USA's medical-grade embedded computing and IT products, focusing on medical-related applications.

Avnet medical device OEM customers can use Onyx embedded solutions to design into a wide variety of medical devices such as surgical stations, PACS imaging solutions, and proprietary control units for medical systems. In addition, Onyx products integrate Intel (INTC) embedded product lines to provide fanless design to enhance infection- and noise-control in surgical environments as well as to support extensive product lifecycles.

Ingram Micro: The global distribution giant announced ithas achieved the Cisco Systems (CSCO) Cloud and Managed Services Advanced Certification. This certification recognizes Ingram Micro as having the capabilities to globally offer and deliver cloud and managed services to its channel partners to help accelerate time to market and time to revenue for businesses worldwide. Partners with this certification receive financial incentives and go-to-market benefits.

The Cisco Cloud and Managed Services Advanced Certification is part of the Cisco Cloud and Managed Services Program, focused on helping partners envision, build, market and sell cloud and managed services with business acceleration tools and services, and is available to qualified Cisco channel partners globally through the Ingram Micro Cloud Marketplace.

And that’s this week’s Distribution Watch. Tune in next week for another exciting episode. Until then, stay cool and stay safe.
