Distribution Watch: Starin, Arrow Electronics, Ingram Micro

This week's Distribution Watch features the latest stories from our friends at Starin, Arrow Electronics and Ingram Micro.

Hello again, and welcome back to Distribution Watch. This week we’ve gathered some juicy new tidbits from our friends at Starin, Arrow Electronics (ARW) and Ingram Micro (IM), so point your peepers at the screen and let’s get started.

Starin: Audio/visual solution distributor Starin has partnered with NEC Display Solutions, a designer and provider of desktop LCD and large screen displays, to bring an expanded lineup of products and multimedia services to its dealers in the United States.

The new products are expected to provide resellers with more advanced presentation solutions for customers in the United States, according to the announcement.

“Starin welcomes this partnership with NEC Display Solutions to leverage its broad offerings in the signage and display market to the wide Starin customer base,” said Bobby Swartz, market development manager at Starin, in a statement. “Our goal is to expand the product offerings to our dealers in the display and signage markets with a strategic partner and with the NEC portfolio. We will continue to offer increasingly sophisticated, complete solutions to our partner base.”

Arrow: Arrow signed an agreement with networking product vendor Plexxi to distribute the company’s portfolio of solutions and products through its enterprise computing solutions business.

The partnership aligns with Arrow’s goal of providing its customers a combined offering of Third Platform applications bundled with software-defined infrastructure to meet increasing demand for scale-out, virtualized computing, according to the announcement.

In other Arrow news, the distributor is working with Skookum Digital Works to offer a five-day boot camp, Innovation Launch Pad, to help companies develop profitable Internet of Things ideas. The Launch Pad program is designed to provide participants with a tangible proof-of-concept, prototype, demonstration and business plan by the end of the session, according to the company.

“IoT is poised to disrupt entire business models and industries, but companies looking to bring innovative new IoT technologies to market face a number of complex challenges,” said Aiden Mitchell, vice president of Semiconductor Marketing for Arrow. “Arrow is excited to collaborate with Skookum on this boot camp to help our customers stay ahead of the innovation curve and profit from the tremendous opportunities IoT presents.”

Ingram Micro: Hyperconverged infrastructure provider Nimboxx signed a new distribution agreement with Ingram Micro this week, making the company the first HCI solution provider in Ingram Micro’s Advanced Solutions Emerging Vendor Initiative Program.

Beginning immediately, Ingram’s Advanced Solutions team will market, sell and support Nimboxx’s portfolio of HCI and virtual desktop infrastructure solutions. Ingram will also provide Nimboxx market development expertise and provide access to its vendor licensing to support and manage price quoting, pipeline management, order fulfillment and customer support.

“As the market for hyperconverged infrastructure solutions continues to mature, organizations around the world are looking to adopt this approach and reduce data center costs and complexity,” said David Cauthron, CEO of Nimboxx. “Ingram Micro has an impressive track record and will be a great alliance partner to help expand our reach and bring the benefits of HCI to an even broader audience. We are confident this relationship will yield strong results for our customers.”

And with that, we’ve reached the end of another Distribution Watch. But don’t worry, we’ll be back next week with even more great news just for you. Until then, keep on distributing.
