MSP GlassHouse Names New CEO in Advance of Cloud Push

GlassHouse Technologies, a self-described “global provider of data center infrastructure consulting and managed services,” has named industry veteran Patrick Scannell as its new CEO ahead of a push to ride the cloud wave to further growth. This isn’t Scannell’s first experience with the company: he’s been a member of the board of directors for a little while now. But now he’s taking the captain’s chair.
In his past life, Scannell was CFO and SVP at analytics and data warehousing provider Netezza all the way through its IPO in 2007 and its $2 billion acquisition by IBM in late 2010, according to the press release. In other words, he’s no stranger to the high tech marketplace. Prior to that, he held executive-level positions with CRM vendor Silknet, which was later sold to KANA for $4.2 billion.
And Scannell is making it clear that his first priority as CEO lies with the cloud, as per that same press release:
“GlassHouse has built an impeccable track record over the past decade working with clients to address their growing data requirements, and is now in the envious position of having this experience and our core services emerge as fundamental elements of the rapidly developing and complex cloud marketplace. Our customers rely on GlassHouse for its vendor independent objective expertise, and now more than ever companies need this clarity amidst the market fervor for cloud direction and strategy.”
Something TalkinCloud has been discussing a lot recently is the importance of the managed service provider community to the delivery of cloud services. If GlassHouse is making a strong statement about its place in this new world at the intersection, then I’m definitely curious to hear more about Scannell’s reign. Keep watching for more.
