CollabNet has launched its CloudForge development platform on the Pivotal Cloud Foundry marketplace. CloudForge is now available as an add-on service to Pivotal’s on-demand platform-as-a-service (PaaS) offering.

According to CollabNet, CloudForge is experiencing strong adoption, but the launch on Cloud Foundry’s marketplace likely will accelerate that adoption. Additionally, it will help ISVs and other developers to speed the development and deployment of enterprise applications for Cloud Foundry-based platforms, whether they’re public or private clouds.

“Joining the Cloud Foundry ecosystem is a great fit for CloudForge as both platforms support an open and flexible approach to software development and delivery in the cloud,” said Bill Portelli, co-founder and CEO of CollabNet, in a prepared statement. “The move to develop and deploy applications in the cloud is growing every day, and CloudForge is attracting increasing numbers of developers, teams and organizations that want a practical path to scale without cumbersome restrictions.”

By launching CloudForge in the marketplace, Clound Foundry users on Pivotal’s web services can sign up for a CloudForge account from the add-on services marketplace to gain access to all of its development-based tools.

For developers building apps on or for Cloud Foundry, this represents another tool in their toolbox for the design and deployment of applications for their various enterprise customers. Should it actually succeed in helping them accelerate that development and deployment, they’ll be able to get apps up and running quicker—something many customers are interested in. The faster they can get apps built and deployed, the quicker they can move on to the next product.

And as end customers try to speed up their deployment of new applications, being able to help them do so quickly could be a competitive advantage.
