At Dell World, Dell and Red Hat (RHT) announced a collaboration in the platform-as-a-service (PaaS) space. The companies jointly introduced the Dell and Red Hat DevOps Solutions Starter Pack, which combines the Red Hat OpenShift Enterprise PaaS with the Dell PowerEdge R420 server and related partner services.
Red Hat partners are going to be the real beneficiaries of this new devops "starter pack," as the open source-focused company will be taking the solution to market through its channel partners.
"The DevOps Solution Starter Pack provides businesses with seamless access to solutions and services aimed at making the cloud consumable in a complete packaged offering," said Ashesh Badani, vice president and general manager of OpenShift at Red Hat, in a prepared statement.
One of the partners involved in providing related services is Vizuri, a certified Red Hat and Dell partner. Vizuri is the first reseller to sign on for the devops solution, and it will also provide complementary services to enable its customers to build devops solutions.
"Vizuri has long collaborated with Red Hat and demonstrates significant expertise and knowledge of the Red Hat portfolio, and this combined offering should bring value to customers whether they are in application development, operations, or an architect," Badani said.
According to Red Hat and Dell, as more enterprises turn to devops to streamline IT processes and better enable both developers and administrators, they are combining "trusted hardware and software resources."
"OpenShift Enterprise can help organizations to bridge the knowledge gap that accompanies initial setup and configuration of DevOps solutions," said Joe Dickman, senior vice president of Vizuri, in a prepared statement. "The DevOps Solution Starter Pack was created to alleviate these concerns and enable IT organizations to be more agile and responsive as they chart their path to the cloud while converging infrastructure and making modernization faster, easier, and with less risk."
