Cloud Sherpas, the Google Apps Authorized Reseller with enough momentum to land it at No. 8 on the Talkin' Cloud 50 by Cloud Revenue Dollar Growth chart, announced the acquisition of Kansas-based Beloit Solutions Group - the service provider's second acquisition in June, and one that will extend its reach into what it calls the "Microsoft-heavy Midwest."
Financial terms of the deal weren't disclosed, but Cloud Sherpas will be gaining "thousands" of new Google Apps seats to manage from Beloit's customers. What's more, the official press release indicates that Cloud Sherpas will be onboarding Beloit Solution Group's sales and IT management staffs, as well as its Google Apps Certified Deployment Specialists, of which it already had more of than any other provider short of Google itself.
Here's what Cloud Sherpas CEO Jon Hallett had to say on the Beloit Solutions Group acquisition in a prepared statement:
"They've sold large accounts, which will be key for us as we target Microsoft enterprise customers in the Midwest. They also have deep technical skills and impressive business acumen, making them important long-term assets for Cloud Sherpas. We're excited to bring the entire Beloit team into the Cloud Sherpas fold, as we aim to work more closely with Google sales reps throughout the Midwest region."
Reading between the lines, Cloud Sherpas' focus on taking customers from Microsoft, combined with the timing of the announcement -- one day before Microsoft Office 365 enters general availability -- shows a carefully constructed message of "no fear."
Just last week, Google announced partner Tempus Nova helped the state of Wyoming move 10,000 employees to Google Apps, and the search giant's been experiencing strong momentum elsewhere in the public sector. So it's understandable that confidence is high. But how worried should Microsoft be?
